Standing Together: A Post-Election Commitment

In the wake of the election, we’re sending our sincere and heartfelt support to you across the United States and the globe. We have planned and prepared for what’s ahead with our team and our partners.

First and foremost, we remain a safe harbor for LGBTQIAPlus people across the national security enterprise, in both the public and private sectors. ONS will continue to be a hub and a network node for thousands of LGBTQIAPlus servicemembers, foreign service officers, civil servants, scientists, veterans, and many others who have faith in the Republic and the Constitution.

Second, we intend to defend as far forward as possible to protect the rights and lives of our most vulnerable and marginalized community members. We believe nonbinary, transgender, and HIV+ servicemembers are at particular risk, but we will work to protect against any hostilities our community faces.

ONS was born out of a need to channel our energy and activism into productive responses to defend against those who would harm us. We will continue that work and welcome everyone ready to join us.

Finally, take care of yourselves and each other. Each day we serve the country demonstrates our patriotism and commitment to equality. Our resources page can direct you and members of your community to crisis hotlines and other tools that will be critical in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead.
