Recruiting for the 2025 Out Leadership & New Voices Lists
My name is Denver Barrows and I am the Chief Operating Officer at Out in National Security. Out in National Security is a non-profit focused on connecting and uplifting LGBTQIA+ professionals in the national security enterprise. Over the past six years, we have aimed to bring together our community of service members, intelligence analysts, consultants, academics, diplomats, program managers, and more. We love to show experienced professionals the vast network of LGBTQIA+ individuals in our fields, as well as provide younger or less experienced members with resources for mentorship, networking, and development.
Today we are launching the application for our 2025 Out List and New Voices. The Out List can be thought of as our version of a “Forbes 30 on 30,” except there’s no age limit! We aim to select 20-30 LGBTQIA+ individuals working in the national security enterprise who have contributed to their own communities and wish to serve as leaders of a broader one. Our Out List members come from diverse backgrounds and work experiences; the “national security” enterprise is broad, and we want to reflect that. Our New Voices members are LGBTQIA+ professionals, students, researchers, and more who are under 26 and wish to expand their contribution and visibility in the field. Selection for both lists is based on thoughtful and incisive responses to our application, leadership potential, and dedication to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
We would greatly appreciate you sharing these opportunities with your members! Both applications are due on Friday, May 16, 2025. If you have a listserv, weekly/monthly newsletter, a group Slack, Signal, or GroupMe, or other forms of communications, these are places in which we would love our application to be shared.
